F.A.M.E NYC began when I was a girl.
Each weekend my father and I would venture to the city. We would hang out at places like The World Trade Center, Statue of Liberty, The Met, and Central and Washington Square Park. Then we would go to the Village and have something to eat and roam around all the cool shops. He would show me the places he loved to go when he was a bachelor. When my mom had a Saturday off, she would join us too.
Looking back I realized that New York City was my playground and a part of my very essence. When choosing to further my education, I studied fashion marketing in NYC. When I wanted to gather inspiration to write poetry, I walked the streets of the city. New York City became my introduction to society when I ventured out to the clubs and became a member of the underground house music scene.
As I began my career as a journalist, it was only natural that NYC would again be a part of my career path. I have had a private longstanding love affair with New York City for over 20 years (as many of you do). F.A.M.E NYC is my public love letter to New York City. It’s a continuation of my relationship with NYC, watching its myriad changes and commenting on the city I’m privileged to witness every day.
F.A.M.E NYC is an acronym for fashion, arts, music and entertainment, and centers on one of the Meccas for all these industries – NYC. It covers New York City arts and culture as well as the artists and behind-the-scenes players that make The Big Apple the place that people flock to in hopes of making it big. And it’s dedicated to anyone that loves NYC as much as I do.
